September 24 - Portland, Maine
More great experiences. Portland was a huge success. The bookstore had its biggest in-store crowd ever and they sold (in all) more than 60 books.
When I left Portland, I came up north to New Harbor, home of Lori Buzby who owns a bookstore in Califon, New Jersey, and a vacation home up here in lobster country. (Another e-mail friend.) When she heard I was headed this way, she offered her home. It's beautiful, a block from the water, and down the road from lots of lobsters and clams. It is difficult to drive anywhere up here without bumping into lobsters and clams. My favorite foods (along with spaghetti).
I have only a couple of more days up here. On the way south, I will go to Portland on Sunday to talk at a Unitarian church (after the service), meet e-mailer Tomi near Boston, and then head back to Uncle Bob and Elaine's house in Fairfield, CT. I'll be in NYC October 1st and 2nd to get my visa for India, and I fly out on the 3rd.
I'm looking forward to seeing old friends in Delhi, to working with the kids, and to writing the book (well, it may be a stretch to say I'm looking forward to writing the book………that scares me a lot. I think I care too much. I want it to be wonderful!).
I will try to write the next entry around Thanksgiving. My plan is to be in India until March 27th…………….unless something compelling comes up someplace else.
Ciao.
